How to arrive like a guest, not like a problem for the door
I do not publish a price list because I do not sell seats and because the house changes menus the way wardrobe changes a sleeve. Look at the operator’s own booking pages for the number. What I can tell you is the shape of the bill. Dinner packages cost more because you are buying a table for longer. The later house looks cheaper until you add a taxi and the drink you will order because you are thirsty. Weekend dates in high season sell first. Midweek later houses in January are how Parisians sneak in when relatives are in town.
What “dress smart” actually means
The door is not a nightclub velvet rope and it is not the Opéra either. Smart means a jacket for men, a proper shoe, no sports shorts, no football shirts, no beachwear. Women: you can be fashionable without being half-naked; the air-conditioning in the wings taught me that sequins do not keep anyone warm. I have watched tourists argue with the door in trainers. They lose. If you are coming from a day of museums, go back to the hotel and change. The hill is not far. I walk it in twelve minutes from my door on rue Lepic; from a hotel in the 9th you will want a taxi or the Métro to Blanche or Pigalle, then a short walk that is well lit and also full of people selling other kinds of evening.
Getting to Montmartre at night
Blanche is the station I still name first. Pigalle works. Anvers dumps you on a different slope. Do not “discover” the walk up from the boulevards in new heels unless you enjoy discovering cobbles. A taxi or a licensed car to the boulevard de Clichy entrance is what I tell older friends, and what I do myself when it rains. The neighbourhood is mixed: theatres, bars, souvenir windows, and the usual night economy. Keep a hand on your bag the way you would in any crowded tourist street. That is not Paris being dangerous. That is Paris being busy.
After the late show
When the later house empties, everyone wants a car at once. Pre-book if you can. The official rank is faster than standing in the road waving at headlights. The Métro will still be running for the 9pm-ish house depending on the night; it will not feel like a kindness in a long dress. I walk home. You should not copy me unless you also live five minutes away and know which street is which when the neon is in your eyes.
Dates, current seating, and the real tariff live on the official cabaret homepage. Use this page for the human part: shoes, slope, and the fact that the gift shop is skippable. Then go to the house’s site and buy the seat from them, not from a stranger in a comment.
| Decision | What I still tell people |
|---|---|
| Dinner or later house | Later house if you came for the dancing. Dinner if you want to be seated early and accept tight tables. |
| Shoes | Closed, smart, broken in. The boulevard is not a carpet. |
| Métro | Blanche or Pigalle. Not a romantic wander in new heels. |
| Taxi after | Pre-book. The pavement becomes a queue of umbrellas. |
